Family Devotional | February 2025

Memory Verse:

Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labour in vain. — Psalm 127:1 (NIV)

Opening Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank You for the gift of family. Help us to build our home on the solid foundation of Your Word. Guide our hearts to love, forgive, and encourage one another as we grow closer to You. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Discussion Starter:

Ask each family member:

  • What do you think makes a strong house? (I.E a good foundation, strong walls, a sturdy roof)
  • What do you think makes a strong family?

Devotional Reflection

Jesus tells the story of two builders—one who built his house on the rock and another who built on the sand. When storms came, the house on the sand collapsed, but the house on the rock stood firm.

In the same way, our family will face challenges—disagreements, stress, and difficult seasons. But if we build our lives on Jesus by reading His Word, praying together, and treating each other with love, we will stand strong no matter what comes our way.

Application Questions

  1. What are some ways we can build our family on the rock of Jesus?
  2. How can we handle disagreements in a way that strengthens our family instead of weakening it?
  3. What is one thing we can start doing as a family to grow closer to God?

Just a Thought!

What do you think makes a strong family?

Closing Prayer

Lord, we want our family to be strong and built on You. Teach us to listen to Your Word and live it out in our daily lives. Help us to love each other, be patient, and always seek You first. May our home be a place of peace and joy. In Jesus’ name, amen.

The Book of John – Lesson 45

The Disciples’ Grief Will Turn to Joy ...

Bible Study - The Book of John - Lesson 45

15 All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall shew it unto you.

16 A little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and ye shall see me, because I go to the Father.

17 Then said some of his disciples among themselves, What is this that he saith unto us, A little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and ye shall see me: and, Because I go to the Father?

18 They said therefore, What is this that he saith, A little while? we cannot tell what he saith.

19 Now Jesus knew that they were desirous to ask him, and said unto them, Do ye enquire among yourselves of that I said, A little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and ye shall see me?

20 Verily, verily, I say unto you, That ye shall weep and lament, but the world shall rejoice: and ye shall be sorrowful, but your sorrow shall be turned into joy.

21 A woman when she is in travail hath sorrow, because her hour is come: but as soon as she is delivered of the child, she remembereth no more the anguish, for joy that a man is born into the world.

22 And ye now therefore have sorrow: but I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice, and your joy no man taketh from you.

23 And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you.

24 Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.

25 These things have I spoken unto you in proverbs: but the time cometh, when I shall no more speak unto you in proverbs, but I shall shew you plainly of the Father.

26 At that day ye shall ask in my name: and I say not unto you, that I will pray the Father for you:

27 For the Father himself loveth you, because ye have loved me, and have believed that I came out from God.

28 I came forth from the Father, and am come into the world: again, I leave the world, and go to the Father.

29 His disciples said unto him, Lo, now speakest thou plainly, and speakest no proverb.

30 Now are we sure that thou knowest all things, and needest not that any man should ask thee: by this we believe that thou camest forth from God.

31 Jesus answered them, Do ye now believe?

32 Behold, the hour cometh, yea, is now come, that ye shall be scattered, every man to his own, and shall leave me alone: and yet I am not alone, because the Father is with me.

33 These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

Christmas Family Fest!

Christmas Family Fest!

On December 18th Redemptionites were treated to a night of great Food, Fellowship and Fun at our first ever Christmas Family Fest!

Attendants were greeted with beautiful decor scapes, which definitely lifted their spirits and ushered in a very winter-like experience. There were themed Games and an abundance of prizes to be won, a marketplace with tantalizing sweet treats, a Photobooth for our members to test out their poses and tonnes of complimentary food! If that wasn’t enough the warm beverage station did wonders in taking the chill off the cold winter evening.

Coffee, tea and hot chocolate — Oh my!  There were even activities specially planned for the children, like cookie decorating, crafts, group games, letters to Jesus and an impressive s’mores station.

The evening was capped off with a beautiful candle lighting ceremony with a time of carol singing and the group was reminded of how each of us should let our light shine.

"Had the time of my life at the Christmas Family Fest this past year. I'll definitely be at the next one ... And you should be too..."
